This month we are going to have the husband and wife duo of Steven and Justina Hatch doing the demonstration.  They are going to show us how they create acrylic blanks using a two-part polyurethane called Alumilite. They will show mixing it and putting it under pressure to make all of the air bubbles disappear.

I believe that Steven is also going to show how he turns the acrylic. This will be his first turning demo with us, so please come to the meeting and show Steven some support.

Charlie Tidswell

Charlie Tidswell

Our own Charlie Tidswell from Beneath the Bark Art is going to be our demonstrator for our May 10th meeting and he is going to demo how he makes a Torus.

What is a Torus? the dictionary defines the Torus this way. Torus: in geometry, a torus is a surface of revolution generated by revolving a circle in three-dimensional space about an axis coplanar with the circle. If the axis of revolution does not touch the circle, the surface has a ring shape and is called a torus of revolution.  Still not getting it? Then come to our May meeting and learn more.

Our next meeting is Wednesday, May 10th starting at 6 pm in the Dirigo High School woodshop.

At the end of the night, we will have our usual show and tell as well as our world famous wood raffle.
